Frequently Asked Questions

Do we have a choice of a duo, trio, or quartet?

Yes, I work with a violinist, violist, and cellist, so we can play as a duo, trio, or quartet. It all depends on your preference, budget, and venue/guest size. If you have any questions about it, I'm more than happy to discuss it with you.

What do the musicians wear?

We usually wear classic black, but are happy to take special requests to complement your event.

Do you have suggestions for music for our ceremony?

The wedding repertoire page may give you a good start. If you would like more guidance, please be in touch!

Will you play at our outdoor wedding?

Yes! Outdoor weddings in Maine are absolutely beautiful and we love helping to create an elegant atmosphere. We need protection from the sun and inclement weather, so please provide us with a shady spot and/or a tent. We also need to protect our instruments, so we can't play in the rain (without cover) even with a slight drizzle. We have a minimum temperature of 50 degrees for outdoor playing. We do dress warmly, but we can't play with gloves. When our fingers get too cold, we don't play as well and our instruments don't respond as they should. We ask that you provide us with a tent/heater.

When will you arrive at the venue?

We will be there 30 minutes before our start time (which is often the start of the prelude music) to check in with the contact person, or officiant for any specific instructions.

Do you take special requests for music?

Yes, I'd love to help make your special day even more special and encourage you to personalize it. We’re happy to learn music that's not in our repertoire, but please give us a few weeks to learn it. If sheet music is available for the ensemble that you choose, we ask that you cover the cost (including shipping) for it. If we can't find sheet music for it, we charge $50 per arrangement and 4 weeks notice.

Can we meet with you before the wedding?

I'd be delighted to meet with you if you would like, but we can also arrange everything we need to via phone and/or email.

Where are you based, and will you travel?

All of us are based in Midcoast Maine and will travel anywhere reasonable. We charge standard travel fees of 54 cents/mile round trip, per musician, from where each musician is based.

Can you play for our cocktail hour?

Absolutely! We have a lovely selection of background music that adds elegance and festivity to your cocktail hour.

"Thank you so much for coming out to play at our wedding. You and Maho were so good! As you saw, it was a small and intimate wedding, and your music fit in perfectly."
